WANGANUI CITY RATES

LAST DAY OF GRACE TO-DAY PENALTY BECOMES OPERATIVE TOMORROW To-day is the last day for the payment to the City Council of the current year’s rates without the imposition of the 10 per cent, penalty. The flow of payments has been of considerable volume during the past few days and hundreds of ratepayers have discharged their rate obligations to the council. The town clerk (Mr. G. Murch) reports that the total amount in rates received to date is most satisfactory and should the business transacted to-day correspond to the figures for the previous year a new high level in ‘the comparative returns of recent years will bo the result.
