GARRISON BAND LEAVES TO-DAY
NEW ZEALAND CONTEST MARCH DOWN THE AVENUE The Wanganui Garrison Banc! leaves by the south express at midday to-day for the New Zealand contest, opening at Christchurch on Sunday. The band will march down the Avenue playing the quickstep. The contest opens at the Showgrounds on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, when the .competing bandsmen will be welcomed by the Mayor of Christchurch, Mr. R M. McFarlane. On Sunday r.ight the hymn contest will be deeded. Die main event on Monday will be Jlce lirst B f-.ade test. On Tues.lay tne Wanganui Garrison will participate in tne first A grade test. The second A grade test will take place on Thursday night. Friday has been allotted to the annual conference of the New Zealand Brass Bands’ Associatior and Saturday to the quickstep displays by both A and B grades. The Wanganui Garrison Band is the present holder of the New Zealand A grade quickste£_championship.
