MOTOR-CYCLIST KILLED
TRUCK-DRIVER FACES SERIOUS CHARGE ALLEGED INTOXICATION - I Per Press Association.* Feb. 16. Fatal injuries were suffered by Ray Fleming, married, aged 32, when a motor-cycle on which he was a pillion rider collided with a truck in Harper Avenue. His brother, Jack Fleming, married, aged 35, rider of the machine, also suffered injuries and was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital, where his condition is reported to be serious. The vehicles were travelling in opposite directions and the motor-cycle hit the truck nearly head-on. The motor-cycle was badly smashed, and the truck, which was driven by William Jaggers, of Hornby, was also damaged. Jaggers was charged with intoxication in charge of a truck and that while intoxicated in charge of a truck he caused the death of Ray Fleming.
