SINGLES TITLE Wanganui Centre’s Tournament OPENING DAY’S PLAY SECTION WINNERS FOUND The Wanganui Bowling Centre's singles tournament, with 25 entries, divided into four sections, started yesterday. Two sections each played on the St. John’s and Wanganui East greens. A strong wind made playing conditions rather unpleasant. Some excellent bowling was witnessed, and there were many close finishes. In many instances an extra end had to be played. In section A Fleming won all five games played. In section B Kirkwood was section winner with four wins. In section C Harris and Boyd tied with four wins each and in the play-off of live ends Harris won. In section D Penn and Clinkard tied with four wins each and in the play-off Penn won. The draw for post-section play, which will be on St. John's green, starting at 9 a.m. to-day, is as follows : Penn plays Kirkwood. Fleming plays W. Harris. The winners of these games wiil then play the final, which will probably start shortly before 11 a.m. Details of play are as follow: Section A.
