P. AND T. SOCIAL CLUB

ANNUAL PICNIC HELD. Favoured with beautiful weather a. large and happy throng of members of the P. and T. Social Club and their friends boarded the river boat on Sunday for a trip up the river to the picturesque picnic site of Mr. Cave's property at Tekorito. i An energetic committee had left no stone unturned to make the outing a memorable one. Ice creams, soft 1 drinks and toys had been provided in I liberal quantities for the kiddies who, l in time-honoured style, soon made ’ short work of the former items. A I full programme of athletics and com- ‘ petitions had been drawn up and soon i all the speed merchants, yes, and i those built more for 'comfort, were . demonstrating their prowess. In at I least one instance, a “second” place I would have been a “first” had there | been just a shade more bulk in front, iAs it was, the verdict “beaten by a waistcoat button,” was about right. However, all good things must come to an end and the presentation of prizes marked the final phase of the day’s outing. In a happy little speech, the club’s patron, Mr. A. Fellow, chief postmaster, thanked all who had in any way contributed to the undoubted success of the picnic. The little good-natured quips as

each prize was handed over were much appreciated by the recipients and the large gathering around the platform. Soon a happy band was wending its way back to the river once again to board the boat; this time for home. Many were the expressions of appreciation of the splendid outing organised by the club committee of whose members Messrs. W. Hastings (organiser) and J. C.
