WANGANUI CENTRAL CLUB CARNIVAL THIS EVENING Large entries have been received for the majority of events at the Wanganui Central Swimming Club's carnival, to be held in the St. George’s Gate baths to-night, commencing at 8 p.m. In some events as many as five, and even six, heats will be required to decide the issue. The men’s 50 yards handicap has attracted 36 entries and is divided into six heats. There are five heats for the intermediate boys’ 50 yards handicap, and a similar number in the junior boys’ 25 yards. The junior girls' 23 yards and the ladies’ 50 yards handicaps have each been divided into four heats, and with heats and finals there will be nearly 50 events on the pro-

gramme. Added features at the carnival will be the ladies’ four-a-side relay for the Bonner Cup. the men’s four-a-side relay for Ihe Thomas Shield (four entries), the men’s ten-a-sidc relay for the Tingey Cup (three entries), and an attempt on the men’s district 50 yards record by K. Welsh (Central Club). Given fine weather the carnival should attract a large crowd of spectators and they should be treated to some keen finishes.
