The Thomas Shield is a relay-race for teams of four men a-side, and Central will be defending the trophy with K. Welsh, A. Reeve, H. Brewer, and B. Haworth. The Tingey Cup is also held by the Central Club, the team to defend the trophy being K. Welsh, A. Reeve, H. Brewer, B. Haworth, K. Harrison, A. Kendall, E. Payne, W. Ansley, S. McKinley and T. Matthews. The Central Club will also have two teams competing in the Bonner Cup, the ladies’ relay race, as follows:--?. Watts, P. Nixon, P. Clayton and E. White; B. Coull, P. Gardner, M. Watts and Z. Chavannes. An attempt on the Wanganui district record for 50 yards will be made by K. Welsh, who shares the record of 26 2-ssec. with N. Dowsett. The programme to be presented by the Wanganui Central Club is a very attractive one and provided the weather is fine there should be a large attendance.
