PATEA MEETINGS
THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE (Own Correspondent.) PATEA, Feb. 13. Appreciation of the work of the organiser of the school jubilee (Mr. L. W. Austin) was expressed by the chairman, Mr. R. E. Moore, at the meeting of the Patea School Committee last week. A small gift was presented to him from the committee. The Education Board notified the appointment of Mr. J. E. Elliott as 1 assistant master. 1 With regard to the committee’s ‘ complaint re medical inspection of the school, the board advised that inspection had been limited owing to the shortage of medical officers, but Dr. ‘ Moir would make a special visit to Patea shortly. The pupils are to be granted a holiday on March 6 to enable them to take part in the picnic to Ngamotu Beach. It was decided to procure pictures ’ and phonograph records for the ' school. Applications are to be called for the 1 positions of caretakers. PATEA DOMAIN BOARD Mr. E. F. Hemingway presided at a committee meeting of the Patea Domain Board last week. The Plunket Society expressed thanks for the use of the Domain for its fete. Mr. R. C. Smith was granted the use ot the shed for boxing, the light to be paid by Mr. Smith. It was. decided to grant the Golf Club another £lO towards the cost of pipes for the swamp when funds were available. It was decided to advertise the motor mower for sale.
