NEXT WEEK’S BIG EVENT ARRANGEMENT FINALISED (Own Correspondent) TAIHAPE, Feb. 13. Arrangements in connection with the Taihape Show to be held on Thursday, February 23, were finalised at a meeting of the general committee of the Hangitikei A. and P. Association on Saturday afternoon, when there were present Messrs. F. Garmonsway (chair), A. W. Bicknell, George Brown, E. R. Fannin, A. Adair, A. P. Batley, F. Cottrell, J. Marshall. ’I. Hintz, W. N. Anderson, L. O’Callaghan, S. Smith, W. Munro, A. Thurston, A. R. Fannin, A. P. Batley, D. Broome, M. Durrant, and the secretary (Mr. F. Darville). The Aberdeen Angus Cattle Breeders’ Association wrote advising that at a meeting of the council it was decided that a cup be donated to the Hangitikei Association when the number of entries in the Aberdeen Angus section reached ten, not necessarily from ten different breeders. The secretary informed the meeting that more than ten entries had already been received and the cup would therefore be competed for. The Young Farmers’ Club, Taihape, wrote asking if the association would be willing to arrange for the judge ot the fat lamb classes at the forthcoming show to give a demonstration. The club also requested that, subject to the association's approval, any members of the club who wish, may visit the Longburn works to see the show lambs killed. The secretary was instructed to write to the judge regarding the matter of the demonstration.

The request of the Young Farmers' Club for its members to visit the Longburn works was granted. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board wrote stating that it would be pleased to co-operate with the association in regard to the handling of entries at the February show for fat lambs and tegs suitable for export. The board also advised that Mr. J. Drysdale would be present to judge the lambs “on the hooks" on the morning of Friday, February 24. The National Mortgage and Agency Co. of New Zealand, Ltd., advised that il. would be pleased to extend to the association the usual facilities for the slaughtering and judging of the show lambs. The association's application for February 22 as the date for the 1940 show was agreed upon by the Western Council of the Royal Agricultural Society, but, is subject to confirmation at the annual conference of the society. • Other arrangements in connection with the show were dealt with and the president added that indications pointed to a most successful fixture. > LATE SHOW ENTRIES At a meeting of the committee of the Hangitikei A. and P. Association | held on Saturday afternoon, it was decided that late entries be accepted up to Wednesday afternoon.
