WATERSIDE WORKERS IN AUCKLAND OBJECTION TO LASCAR. SEAMEN s [ Per Prejs Association.] , AUCKLAND, Feb. 13. I Because they objected to working in I association with Lascar seamen, eight non-union workers engaged on Friday > to assist in unloading passenger baggage fro mt he Stratheden were discharged, the crew performing the - duties for which they were engaged. In accordance with what is described as the usual practice the crew were discharging passenger luggage, it being the duty of the waterside workers to take delivery on the wharf When objection was raised to Lascar hatchmen the waterside workers were promptly put off. It is stated that union labour regularly performs duties - with crews of any nationality or race in similar circumstances.
