NEED FOR DOMINION TO BE I SELF-CONTAINED 1 Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 13. A final payment of threepence a bushel on the 1938 wheat crop will be made to-morrow, stated lhe Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Industries and Commerce. This would bring the total payment for the 1938 crop to 5s 9rl a bushel for Tuscan, March basis, and involved the distribution of more than over £6OOO among wheat growers. The Minister emphasised the need of the Dominion being self-contained for wheat supply. “In the event of war shipping difficulties could arise which might be very serious if we depended on overseas sources for our ; food supplies.” he said.
