PLANE STRIKES TREE
UNFORTI NATE EM) TO REMARKABLE FLIGHT. Received Feb. 12. 7.30 p.m. NEW YORK, Feb. 11. It is revealed that the plane struck a tree while attempting a landing at New York army aerodrome after making almost a record flight from California, a distance of 2400 miles in 7 hours 45 minutes. The impact ripped off the right wing, crushed the fuselage and bent the propellers, slightly injuring the pilot, Lieutenant Ben Kelsey. It is reported that the machine cost 80,000 dollars.
