AIR RAID WARDENS

RESPONSIBILITY FOR RECRUITING [ British Official Wirelesf ] RUGBY, Feb. 9. It is announced that the responsibility for tne recruiting, training and organisation of air raid wardens in London is to bo transferred from the borough councils to the metropolitan police, and the organisation of rescue parties to the London County Council. The nation-wide distribution of the Guide to National Service in connection with the voluntary service recruiting campaign which began on January 25 will not be completed till February 1. Nevertheless, by February. 4 over 100,000 applications for enrolment in the various Services had already been received.
