COLONIAL DEFENCES

UNDER CONSTANT REVIEW [ British Official Wireless. 1 RUGBY, Feb. 9. In an answer in the House of Commons to-day, the Colonial Secretary <Mr. Malcolm MacDonald) stated that the defence needs of the colonial dependencies were under constant review by the appropriate sub-commit-tees of the Imperial Defence Committee and reports on measures taken during the recent crisis had been received from a number of the most important dependencies and action taken upon them where it seemed necessary. In these circumstances, said Mr. MacDonald, he did not consider it necessary to ask for a report from all the Colonial Governments on the adequacy of measures taken last September.
