WANGANUI SESSION HEAVY CRIMINAL LIST SIR JOHN REED TO PRESIDE The quarterly session of the Sir preme Court, which opens at Wanganui on Monday, will be presided ovet by Sir John Reed, The calendar fot the sitting is fairly heavy so far ai criminal cases are concerned and includes four criminal cases for trial and five prisoners for sentence. The civil list is very light with one case before the Judge and a jury of twelve, an action for damages arising out of a collision, and one case before the Judge alone, this being a partnership and accounts matter. One divorce case is to be heard by the Judge and a jury of twelve, the grounds for the application being adultery. Nine petitions are to be heard by the Judge alone. The list is as follows: Criminal Cases (For Trial) John Ensoll Briggs, alleged wounding with intent to do bodily harm. Lena Clappcrton, alleged theft from the person. William Samuel Gower, alleged negligent driving of a motor-car, causing death. Deputy Official Assignee v. Robert Wakefield Harris, alleged breaches of the Bankruptcy Act: (1) Failing to keep books; (2) Contracting debts when insolvent. (For Sentence) Leonard Roy Evernden, alleged false pretences. Richard Alexander Henry Malam, forging and uttering cheque. Paddy Aka Manu, failing to stop after a motor-car accident to ascertain if he had injured any person. Bertie Maurice Cox, breaking, entering and theft (3 charges). Gordon Algernon Lambert, breaking, entering and theft (9 charges). Civil Cases (Before Judge and jury of 12) S. J. Aston and D. R. Aston v. Wan-ganui-Rangitikei Electric-power Board damages for negligent driving of a motor-truck. (Before a Judge Alone) C. B. Minogue v. R. O’Reilly and N. Fleming, declaration as to dissolution of partnership and for taking of accounts. In Divorce (Before Judge and Jury of 12) E. Gullery v. C. H. Gullery, petition for divorce on grounds of adultery. (Before a Judge Alone) M. Harford v. H. B. Harford, motion for decree absolute. D. T. Daley v. T. P. Daley, motion for decree absolute and custody. s. W. Head v. C. G. Head and H. Shaw, motion for decree absolute and custody. E. L. Wallace v. C. B. Wallace, motion for decree absolute. B. Bates v. R. C. H. Bates, petition for permanent maintenance. K. Cuthbertson v. K. E. Cuthbertson, petition for dissolution of marriage on grounds of failure to comply with order for restitution of conjugal rights. L. B. A. Walker v. G. R. Walker, petition for divorce and custody on i grounds of separation order. R. R. Mahoney v. J. W. Mahoney, petition for divorce on grounds of habitual drunkenness and cruelty. P. M. Hornby v. W. H.
