Mr. J. W. Dove (Dunedin) has been re-elected president of the New Zealand Hospital Boards’ Association.

Sir John Reed will preside at the quarterly sitting of the Supreme Court which opens at Wanganui on Monday.

Mr. F. M. Brice, of Marten, was a visitor to the Danrevirke A. and P. Show this week to judge the Hereford cattle section.

Dr. R. A. Shore, acting-Director-General of Health, and Miss M. I. Lambie, Director of Nursing Services, are visiting New Plymouth for the hospital boards’ conference.

Mr. W. E. Broderick, chairman of the Wanganui Hospital Board, has been re-elected as a member of the executive of the New Zealand Hospital Boards’ Association.

Dr. G. H. Robertson will attend the annual conference of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association which opens at Christchurch on February 21.

Kerby (managing secretary), who represented the Wanganui Hospital Board at the annual conference of hospital boards at New Plymouth, are to return to Wanganui to-day.

Sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. J. K. Hornblow and Mr. W. S. Wharton was expressed by the conference of hospital boards at New Plymouth yesterday. Appreciation of their services to their board and the association was also recorded.

Mr, Naylor was until recently secretary of the Wanganui District Adjustment Commission. Mr. G. J. Halliwell, engineer in charge of the construction on the East Coast Railway at Raupunga, will be transferred to the hydroelectric construction works at Tuai within the next two or three weeks, when the railway line between Putorino and Raupunga has been handed over to the Railway Department Colonel E. The Associated Board R.S.M., London, advise that examinations this year in New Zealand will be conducted by Dr. J. F. Staton, F.R.C.0., L.R.A.M. Dr. Staton was born in Sheffield, and has toured France, Germany and Belgium as pianist and conductor, besides undertaking examinations for the Board in England, and acting as judge, at many musical festivals in England, Canada and South Africa. He has published many songs, part songs, and choruses, besides piano and organ music. For his war service he was awarded the Croix de Guerre. Dr. Staton will arrive in New Zealand in July and will, travel through both islands.
