RED CROSS
BRANCH IN WANGANUI. A branch of the New Zealand Red Cross Society was formed at a public meeting in Wanganui on Wednesday night. The meeting, which was largely attended, was presided over by Mrs. Eide, and was addressed by Mr. Ira J. Bridger, director-general of the society in New Zealand. At the conclusion of Mr. Bridger's address, the following officers were appointed:—Patron and patroness, the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Rogers; president, Mr. F. W. Gilligan (subject to consent); vice-presidents, Mesdames Beaumont Bates, J. C. Wickham, and Mr. A. Douglass. An executive committee of six, with power to add, was appointed to make arrangements for another meeting. The committee is Mesdames Eide, Gibbs, Hair, Summerell, Nelson, and Messrs. Wilson and Lawrence.
