BUTTER MARKET FIRM CHEESE ALSO EASIER. A decline o£ 2s a cwt. in the price of New Zealand salted butter in London occurred last week, the closing quotation being 122/-123/- The latest price is, however, well above that oi a montli ago, when the quotation was 117/-, and compares with 107/- to 108/- a year ago. According to the cabled report received by the Primary Products Marketing Department, and issued by the Dairy Board, -the market closed lirm after an active demand. Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: New Zealand.—Salted, 122, - to 123/(124/- to 125/-; a year ago, 107/- to 108/-); unsalted, 125/- to 126/- (126/to 128/-; a year ago, 112/-). Australian.—Salted, 119/- to 120/(119/- to 120/-); unsalted, 121/- (122/to 123/-). Argentine.—Unsaltcd, 112/- to 116/(116/-). Danish.—l 23- f.0.b.; 114/- to 145/spot (116/- to 137/-). Dutch.—Unsalted, 123/- (124/-). Lithuanian.—Unsalted, 125/- (125/-) Retail prices were unchanged, last week, New Zealand at 1/3 and Danish at 1/5 a lb. The present price of 123/- a cwt. is equal to approximately 14.35 d a lb, f.0.b., New Zealand ports, compared with the guaranteed price of 14.89 d a lb., f.o.b. The London equivalent of the guaranteed price is 124/3 a cwt. The equivalent price of cheese is about 7.61 d a lb., f.0.b., compared with the guaranteed price of 8.42 d.

Deliveries of New Zealand butter from store last week were 1268 tons. The quantity remaining in store on Friday was 5085 tons, as again 3788 tons a year ago. Deliveries of Australian butter last week were 2032 tons, the quantity remaining in store being 6184 tons, as against 2626 tons a year ago.
