TALLOW, HEMP AND FRUIT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated February 3:— Tallow.—Market steady. Present spot quotations are:—Mutton: Fine, 24/6 to 25/-; good, 21/- to 21/6; fair, 16/6 to 17/-. Beef: Fine, 20/6 to 26/-; good, 18/-; fair, 16/- to 16/6. Mixed: Good, 18/-; fair, 16/- to 16/6; gut, 14/to 15/6. Mutton: Dark to dull, 15/- to 16/6. Beef: Dark to dull, 11/- to 15/6. Hemp.—Manila: Market inactive; values K grade February-April shipment, £lB 5/-. Sisal: Market quiet, slightly easier. Closing quotations February-April shipment, £l6/17/6; sellers, April-June, £l7. New Zealand: Market nominal and unchanged. Apples: Fair demand principally for large cooking varieties and coloured dessert. Washington Newlowns, 10/to 11/-; British Columbia, 11/6. Pears.—Less demand, prices easier. Californian Winter Neiis, 8/- to 11/6; Oregon Comice pears, 13/- to 15/-
