TUTAENUI FLOWER SHOW (Own Correspondent) MARTON, Feb. 7. The annual flower show ot the Tutaenui branch o£ the Women's Di- 1 vision ot the Farmers’ Union will be held in the Tutaenui Hall this (Wednesday) afternoon and will be open to the public at 2 o'clock. All exhibits must be staged at noon. In the evening a dance will be held. The prices of admission are: Gents Is 6d, ladies Is. PHYSICAL FITNESS WEEK A public meeting will be held in the Marton Borough Council Chambers at 8 o'clock this (Wednesday) evening to arrange a programme of events in connection with the local celebration of the “Physical Fitness Week.” NEW ZEALAND OILFIELDS A general meeting of the Marton Chamber of Commerce will be held in Gould’s tearooms on Thursday, February 9, at 8 p.m., when Mr. T. R. Anderson, of Stratford, will speak on the geological oilfields of New Zealand. Mr. Anderson has made a lifelong study of the possibilities of discovering oil in New Zealand and members and friends are assured of a veryinstructive address on a subject that is very vital to New Zealand. With the season more than half over, the Rangitikei cricket competition has assumed a very interesting state, with Old Boys, who have played one more game than any other team, still leading with 29 points. The newly-formed Taihape team with 24 points is .next. Ten points were allotted to Taihape when they entered the competition after Christmas. These, added to five points for a win by default against Hunterville, a win, a draw and a tie, give them their formidable total.
