BRANCH IN PALMERSTON NORTH I Per Press Association.] PALMERSTON N., Feb. 7. Steps for the formation of a New Zealand Consumers’ League were taken at a meeting, the sequel to a proposal advanced by the New Zealand Farmers’ Union that such a body would be a valuable method of focussing the point of view of those concerned at rising costs and the consequent injury to trade. The objects are defined as guarding and advancing the rights and welfare of the consumer with regard to goods and services offered for sale. Mr. A. E. Mansford was elected president. Colonel S. S. Closey stated that 31 branches wjsre readv to be formed.
