HUNTERVILLE NOTES

"FITNESS WEEK" (Ow.n Correspondent) HUNTERVILLE, Feb. 7. There was only a small attendance at the public meeting held at the Town Hall on Monday night, but nevertheless representatives of sport? bodies present decided to give the public a lead in the observance of a week of sports as suggested by the Minister. It was decided that a small committee be set up to draw up a programme and solicit the support of the sporting bodies of the town. This programme is to be submitted to a further meeting to be held on Friday next. Elected to the committee were Messrs. A. J. Petrie (chairman), W Hayward (secretary), J. R. Boswel and P. D. J. Smith. PERSONAL Mrs. R. S. Watson, of Palmerstor North, arrived yesterday to spend £ few days at Hunterville. Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Lourie, oi Wanganui, were visitors to Hunterville on Saturday. Friends of Mr. F. Goodall will regret to learn that he is an inmate oi Whare Ora hospital. Miss Rae, who has been the gues of her sister, Mrs. E. H. Adkins, ha? returned to Hunterville. Mr. Ted Thompson, son of Mr. anc Mrs. L. J. Thompson, of Hunterville who for some years has been engagec in electrical engineering in Australi; and whose firm is at present engage: at a large iron works near Brisbane spent the week-end at Hunterville Misses M. and L. Thompson als< visited their parents for the week end. The death occurred on Saturday last of Mrs. Martha Tabor, relict o the late Mr. John Tabor, Mangao noho, at the age of 78 years- Th' late Mrs. Tabor was born at Dressil ion, St. Enne, Cornwall, England, anc came to New Zealand 45 years age Two sons are left, Messrs. Fred, o Levin, and James, who is farming a Mangaonoho.
