WEDDING

MARTIN—DYKES A wedding of interest to Wanganui look place at St. Chad’s Anglican Church on Tuesday, January 31, when the marriage was solemnised between Dorothy, eldest daughter of the late Mr. F. W. Dykes and Mrs. Dykes, of Wanganui, to Maurice, only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Martin, of Temuka, Canterbury. Tile church was attractively decorated by friends of the bride, and the Rev. Archdeacon Young officiated. The bride entered the church on the arm of her uncle, Mr. F. D. Allen, and was wearing a model frock of magnolia satin cut on Empire lines and forming a long train. Her embroidered tulle veil was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom and she carried a sheaf of cream waterlilies. A dainty frock of mauve self-pat-terned sheer trimmed with silver and cut on similar lines to the bride's frock was worn by the bridesmaid, Miss Nan Dykes (sister of the bride). She wore a spray of mauve flowers in her hair and carried a sheaf of pale pink waterlilies. Jocelyn Perry (cousin of the bride) made a sweet wee flower girl and was dressed in a frock of pink sheer with pink spray in her hair, anti carried a posy of pink carnations and sweet peas. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. Harrisbn Hooker. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Virginia Lake kiosk, the tables being artistically decorated with pale pink and mauve sweet peas. Mrs. Dykes received her guests wearing a navy sheer coat over a frock of floral georgette with hat to tone, and carried a posy of pink carnations and rosebuds. The customary toasts were honoured and telegrams from absent friends and relations were read. Later the happy couple left by car, the bride wearing a navy costume with accesories to tone. Their future home will be in Temuka.
