SIR JULIEN CAHN’S TEAM

MATCH AT WANGANUI LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS The main discussion at the meeting of the Managament Committee of the Wanganui Cricket Association on Monday evening was the visit of Sir Julien Cahn’s team on February 18. Much correspondence was received from the New Zealand Cricket Council in this connection, and final arrangements were made as follows for the match:— Members of the committee and those who are to billet the visitors are to be asked to be in attendance at the Post Office on Friday morning, February 17, to welcome the team on arrival from Marton at 6.45 a.m. A practice wicket is to be made available for the tourists on Cook’s Gardens in the event of their wishing to have a practice on the Friday. Arrangements were made for the entertainment of the visitors on the Friday evening. It was decided to write the manager, Mr. E. G. Wolfe, with regard to the feeling of his players as to entertainment on the Friday, as it is felt that, after an all-night train journey the men may prefer to rest during the day. The hours of play for the match between Sir Julien Cahn's team and the Wanganui representatives will be as follows:—11.30 a.m. to 1.15 p.m.; 2 to 4 p.m.; 4.15 to 6 p.m. Luncheon and afternoon tea will be served at the ground, the luncheon interval being from 1.15 to 2 p.m. and afternoon tea from 4 to 4.15 p.m.

ONE-DAY MATCHES WANGANUI SUGGESTION LIMIT TO PLAYING TIME A special meeting of the Management Committee of the Wanganui Cricket Association will be held at 5.30 p.m. to-morrow on Cook’s Gardens to discuss a suggestion that the final round of five games in the competitions be played in one-day malehes. This suggestion was put forward at Monday night’s meeting of the Management Committee, when it was pointed out that Cook's Gardens would

not be available for club cricket on February 18 and 25 and on March 11. Delegates will have the opportunity of discussing thc suggestion with their respective clubs, and probably eno point which will be brought out is the even division of playing hours for the respective teams.

The score-board at Cook's Gardens is being altered under the direction of Messrs. J. H. Hayhow and W. H. Bickley, who stated that the new board would be ready for the match against Sir Julien Cahn's team on Saturday. February 18. It should be a boon to players and spectators alike as the names of batsmen and bowlers will bo more clearly set out.
