43 YEARS A FIREMAN
PAEROA SUPERINTENDENT MB. XV. J, MOORE’S SERVICE , PRESENTATION OF GOLD BAR PAEROA, Feb. 3. Second in the Auckland Province in length of service, but leading tin. Dominion for the number oi yeacs as superintendent, Mr. W. J. Moore, superintendent of the Paeroa Volun teer Fire Brigade, was the recipient of a two years' gold bar to mark inc completion of 43 years as a fireman. Mr. Moore joined tiie Auckland brigade in January, 1889, just 59 years ago. Part of this service has not oecn recognised in the term ot 43 years owing to the loss of records, while lot several years, until he joined the Pacroa brigade in 1899, he was in towns where there was no brigade or no vacancy for a fireman Four years after becoming a mem of the Paeroa brigade, Mr. Moore was elected captain, tne office now known as superintendent, and has retained that position without a break for 36 years. The deputy-superintendent, Mr. E. W. Moore, who is a son of the superintendent, congratulated his father on his 43 years' service.
