AMBULANCE PICNIC

AN ENJOYABLE OUTING (Own Correspondent). MARTON, Feb. 6. A most successful and enjoyable outing was spent by the members and friends of the ambulance, nursing and cadet divisions of St. John Ambulance, Marton, during the week-end. The day was perfect and picnic folk made the most of the splendid bathing pool and surroundings on Mr. Harris' property, which was kindly loaned to the division for their annual picnic and camp. Camp orderlies soon had tents and shelters erected prior to the arrival of the main party and the cooks soon had the fires going. Each member of the committees had a particular item to attend to and it was

mainly due to the efficient manner in which they carried out their duties that the outing was such a success. During the day there were several minor accidents which were attended to by those on first-aid duty. During the afternoon several games, etc., were competed for, the following being the results:— Children’s Race.—Under five years: Elaine Ashton 1, Ruth Lawson 2. Under Nine: Genral Ashton 1, Joy Ashton 2. Under 14: Walter Hainsworth 1. Children’s open handicap: Edna Hainsworth 1. Adult Races.—Ambulance executive race: R. H. Turnbull 1, F.
