LECTURES ON THE MAORI
I NEW ZEALAND TENOR I 1 j Mr. Hubert Carta, the New Zealand . I tenor, who is well known in Wanga- | nui, is to give a series of lectures entitled, “The Maori in Song and Story.” They will be illustrated with lantern slides and Maori actions and songs, and will relate Maori legends, myths, religious beliefs, the migrations, and other interesting facts, wrote our London correspondent on January 9. The first lecture will be at the Croydon Public Library on January 9. It [will be repeated at the Union Chapel (Compton Terrace), Islington, on February 2, and at the Master Artists’ Guild, Bloomsbury, in March. Mr. Carta is preparing a second lecture to be called “The Maori; His Customs, Art and Daily Life.” Everywhere he has found t he Maoris to be the subject l of much interest, and he has been I asked to lecture on several occasions. I In future, he plans to combine these ' talks with his normal concert work.
