GARDEN PARTY
PRESIDENT OF VICTORIA LEAGUE ENTERTAINS YOUNGER CONTINGENT Most enjoyable was the garden party given on Saturday afternoon by Mrs. A. H, Boyes, president of the Victoria League, at her home in Selwyn Street, when she entertained members of the younger contingent of the league. The day was lovely, and the house with its large lounge, sun-room and attractive grounds made a delightful setting for the pretty frocks and hats worn by the guests. The vivid red blossoms of a flowering gum tree gave a bright splash of colour to the trees and palms surrounding the lawn, on which had been placed colourful garden chairs and cushions. Mrs. Boyes wore a beige lace frock with elbow-length cape sleeves banded with fur in the same shade, and a wide-brimmed beige hat trimmed with cire ribbon and a large pink flower. A treasure hunt added to the enjoyment of the afternoon and the four guests who found the parcels containing delightful gifts were Miss Joan Webster, Miss J, Barton, Miss Nance O'Neill and Miss Margaret Hanson. A delicious afternoon tea was served on the lawn. On behalf of the members of the younger contingent, Miss Stella Meuli thanked Mrs. Boyes for the delightful afternoon and wished her bon voyage.
