PLUNKET SOCIETY MEETING I The monthly meeting of the Mangaweka Branch of the Plunket Society was held on Thursday afternoon, with a very good attendance. Mrs H. Sweet presided. The Mangaweka sharp of £7 10s to the Lady Truby King Fellowship was forwarded to Taihape. It was decided to hold the annual public appeal and street stall. The committee’s appeal for all members' j Several members were enrolled. i subscriptions to bo in by Christmas is I meering with good response. PRESBYTERIAN SALE OF WORK The annual sale of work in connection with the Presbyterian Church was hob! in Phillips-’ Hall on Thursday, and owing to the good weather the hall was well filled. At the close of the day the promoters were pleased with the success of their efforts. Mesdames Barrell and Liddicoat had charge of the sewing and fancy stall;.,Mrs L. Robb and Misses G. Shaw and B. Shaw wore in charge of the sweet and ice cream departments; Mesdames Blake and Waugh managed the produce stall; tea was served by Mrs Shaw. Misses O’Dea. Phyn. Oemeke, and Brown, and Miss Houston was in charge of the bran-tub. A largo Christmas Tree occupied one enc( of the hall, ’ and by 2.30 p.m. Mesdames Oemeke and Lowe .had stripped the branches of all toys.
