There were only two points difference at the interval, but the tourists were handiI capped in the second half, after Avery had regained tho lead for them, by ; Gregory re iring owing to a twisted knee, and Kirwin going off because of i injuries to the head. Neither returned, i i The game opened sensationally, two tries being secured in tho first four i minutes. Herring drew blood for the New Zealanders, after brilliant play by i Davidson and Brown. Wigan replied • immediately. Ring ran strongly and j passed to Abrams, who scored. Brown . added a try for the visitors, after , which Ring equalised with a score for • the home team. Then Parker received l the lea her from the South African, Booysen. and scored a try, giving i Wigan the lead. i Davidson, for New -Zealand, and i Ring, for Wigan, then scored tries. Even play followed until Webb took a 1 ~nnd pnss from Davidson, beat Ihe Wigan defence, and again crossed. T’p to the present no try had been converted. and tho first goal was scored when Sullivan landed a penalty.
