MOANA-ROA (From the 4 4 Chronicle’s ” Special Correspondent). Considerable interest is being taken in Rangitikei’s new seaside settlement, Moana-Roa. and numbers of intending purchasers of sections have visited the site. On Sunday seven cars were at Moana-Roa, and five went right to the beach, finding the road easily passable. Next Sunday the surveyors will be in attendance with plans, and visitors will be shown the various parts of the settlement. Weather permitting, the Marton Brass Band will play there, and it is expected that a will visit the place. The sale of sections will take place at Bulls on Monday, December 13, at 2.30 p.m. GENERAL NEWS Favoured by good weather numerous games in the Yankee tournament have been played on the tennis courts this week, and great interest is being taken in the competition. Brookie Handicap Singles matches played on the bowling green this week resulted as follows:—Doughty (16) 41 beat McDonel'l (14) 22; Ellery (8) 32 beat Price (10) 20; and Schaub (8) 32 beat F. G. Wilson (6) 17. Mrs E. Willis, of Greatford, secured the prize for the champion rose (Captain Kilbee Kettle) at the Hunterville Show. Proficiency certificates were gained at the recent examinations by Rush Green and Thelma Byrnes (Ohakea School), and by Rex Homes (Pferewanui School). ‘ 1 Infatuation, ” starring Corinne Griffith will be screened in the Town Hall to-morrow evening. This is a very line picture, and is especially recommended for adulfs. Mr Flynn, of Dannevirke, has secured a lease of the Rangitikei Hotel, >and will probably take possession on Monday. It is reported that over one hundred applications have been received for the position of caretaker of the Rangitikei Racing Club’s course, recently advertised in the 4 4 Chronicle. ” Al lecture will be delivered in the Sunday School to-night at 7.30 by the Rev. W. S. Tremaine, Vicar of Rongotea, on 44 The Eskimo and His Land.” For many years the lecturer lived among those far north people, and there is every promise of some interesting information. There will be no charge for admission and no collection. The lecturer recently addressed crowded Audiences in Auckland on five successive nights, and Bulls people should not fail to turn up in full force.
