CANTERBURY SHOW.
Per Press Association. . OHRISTOHUROH, November 8. The Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association's metropolitan show opened at the show grounds this morning. As is customary on the opening day the afttendanbe of the public was somewhat scanty, and all <tfh© exhibits had .not arrived. The entries this year total 1849 as against 1662 last year. Carriages, implements, machinery, and special exhibits in tents (including New Zealand manufactures) are not enumerated in the foregoing. Year by year the entries of implements and machines have 'been isoreasing, and this year the athnan'oe is particularly 'noticeable, «s----peoialJy in the department of oil engines. The display of farm implements and machinery is equal to the best off former years. .'Motor-<sar driving and. fencing competitions were to have* been held this .afternoon, but a storm caused these to be" postponed until to-morrow when judging will "be commenced.
