FIRES.
Per Press Association. PALMERSTON (N., November 7. A six-roomed house owned toy George Woods, of iFeilding, and occupied by C Just, was totally destroyed by fire at one o'clock this 'morning, together with the contents, which were insured for £325 in the Commercial Union.
WELLINGTON, November 7. About 11 o'clock last night a fire occurred in the cabin occupied by the third engineer of the Union Company's steamer iMapourika, lying at the Queen's Wharf, but was extinguished 'before extensive damage had l>een done. The outbreak ris Relieved to have 'been caused by the bursting of a kerosene lamp, during the temporary aibsence of the third engineer from the cabin.
