*&. — RE BRANDING OF COLONIAL WOOLS. Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantilo Agency Company, Limited, Wanganui, report having received from thoir London office the following advice of importance to sheep farmers:— Ar. tho American Customs are now' under a recent decision charging an extra one per cent, par lb. duty on colonial wool when branded "Lincoln" or "Leicester," it will be to the advantage of farmers to discontinue branding their baler, with these descriptions. They can ©itter uso the word "Crossbred" or emit tho quality altogether, merely sci ding a written description to their agents. Oar London friends also point out that all wcols entering the United States must have the country of origin biacded on the bales, and it has been •suggested to us that if this could be dono before shipment it would be a great convenience to many English bryers, and mean little or no extra cost to tho growers. To comply with thin last-named suggestion, it would be necessary to have a special stencil plate made, comprising the words "Grown in New Zealand."
