STARTLING ANNOUNCEMENT.

NOVELTY DRAPERY SALE

As will be seen by a striking advertisement which appears on our front page, Messrs. George and Kersley, Limited, intend holding a gigantic midseason sale of general drapery and men's and boys' clothing. This unloosed for, but no doubt welcome, sale, will start on Wednesday morning next

at 9 o'clock. Those who hava participated (and there must bo many thousands) in Messrs. George and ICersley's big sales iin the past, will remember how the hugo crowds of eager buyers surged through the spacious Economic premises and practically took the large staff ot assistants by storm, wilL be interested to know that the firm are determined to make next Wednesday's sale one of the greatest, if not the greatest, "Bargain Sales" they have ever placed before the public of Wanganui. Itt answer to our query as to why they were holding this great sale right in tho middle of the season, Mr. Mather, the manager, explained "that their present stocks wer© something enormous—considerably over £40,000 —and as the weather conditions of the present season bad been somewhat 'against them, the firm had decided, rather than carry their stocks forward—on holding a 'gigantic mid-season sale." "Yes, we know it's unusual," said the manager. "Still, we are quite satisfied we are doing the correct thing under the circumstances, and you may tell your readers that the whole of the stocks to bo oleared are parfectly new, and embrace all the most fashionable goods on the market to-day. The public are not slow to appreciate a 'good thing,' and we can readily imagine the vast crowds that will throng the Economic on Wednesday morning." "The staff has been working at high pressure night an*2 day for some time past, and everything will be in complete readiness for Wednesday morning." A huge circular, giving full particulars, will b3 issued with to-morrow's "Chronicle," and we strongly advise all drapery buyers to read the bargain list rigiit through during their leisure moments, and make a point of attending this gigantic sale, which starts on Wednesday morning next at 9 o'clock. Further particulars in connection with this unusual sale will appear in to-morrow's "Chronicle."
