Messrs. A. Moritzson and Co., grain merchants, Dunedin, report:— Wheat remains firm at last week's quotations. Velvet and Tuscan 3s 3d

to 3s 4d, red sorts 3s 2d,-good whole fowl wheat 3s.

Oats are still improving; stocks are almost nil. Wo quote milling 2s Id, B grade 2s to 2s OJd, inferior Is 9d to is lid.

Barley.—The demand for malting barley has fallen off considerably local ly, although oi'ders from the north are still coming forward. Feed barley is, however, wanted at 2s 6d, milling 2s 9<l.

Ryegrass.—Very firm at last week's quotations. Farmers' dressed, 3s 3d to 3s 9d; machine dressed, 4s 6d to 5s 6d per bushel. Cocksfoot is unchanged ; market remains strong. Farmers' lots 3£d to 4-Jd; machined, 5d to s£d. New season's samples wanted. Chewing fescue, farmers' lots ljd to 2d, machined 3d to 3£d. L:nseed..—Scarce; nominal value, £12 to £13, wanted. Prussian Blue peas, 3s 9d per bushel.

Maize, 4s. Potatoes.—Stocks are low, with few arrivals. Arrivals, small prime Derwents, lls to 11s 6d; white sorts, 10s 6d to lls.

Chaff.—Prime bright heavy, 70s to 72s 6d ;medium, 55s to 655; inferior, 45s to 50s.

Wheaten straw, 32s 6d. Oaten straw, 355. Pressed clover hay, 50s to 60s.

Turnips, 18s to 20s. Sheepskins.—Crossbred and halfbred (extra good), up to 12s 6d; crossbred and pelts, 8s to 9s 6d; medium, 6s 6d to 7s 6d; inferior, 5s to 6s. Lambs (extra good), 6s 6d to 7s 6d. Horse Hair.—Keen demand, 16£ dto 17^d. Cow hair, B^d to lOd. Hides.—There is still a good demand for all well flayed hides. Prime ox (stout) 6ifd to 7^d; extra heavy ox, 5d to s£d; light, 5d to s|d; medium ox, 5d to s^d; calf skins (sound), up to 6i per lb. Our next sale takes place on November 2. Good demand for all classes.

Rabbit Skins.—Selected winters up to 21d, mixed 16£ dto 18d, early ditto 15* dto 16id, early autumn 12£ dto 13d, late ditto 13£ dto 14£ d, summers 7-|d to 9d, winter blacks 31d to 355.
