THE ANNUAL SHOW

HEMEMBER—ENTRIES CLOSE ON SATURDAY.

With reference to the different <classes at the annual Show of the Wan.ganui Agricultural Association (15th and 16th November) may be mentioned those concerning our canine friend, the dog. Now, the stewards having control of these classes this year aro <a live lot of practical men, whose endeavour, of course, is in the direction of making Ahe same one of the distinct features of the Show. Towards that end, at the last meeting it was decided to enclose tho whole exhibit of dogs in a special arubberoid building for the purpose of protecting the animals against the eleanents—heat, cold, and rain—which in itself is not only on the humane side, imt also- gives exhibitors the guarantee that their exhibits will, be w&ll looked after. The innovation thoroughly deserves appreciation at the hands of exhibitors from the heat and rainproof point of view, and will no doubt be the means of largely extending the entries of former years. Whilst writing about —and that in a general sense— it should not be forgotten that the last <lay for receiving the same is at 9 p.m. on Saturday next, 4th November, so 4hat from to-day there are but five days to fill in the necessary forms.
