WANGANUI CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL.
The representatives of the Museum Trustees and the Carnival Committee {ippointed to organise the floral fete, to take placo on Boxing Day, met last evening at tho Museum, Present:— Messrs. S S. Griffiths, R. H. White, C. Drew, G. Smith, J. F. Holloway. Mr. A. A. Gower forwarded an apology, but promised his best assistance. Mr. Griffiths was elected chairman, and in a few appropriate remarks, expressed the opinion that by all pulling together the floral fete would be very successful. The committee at once got to work, and the following programme was adopted, subject to addition and alteration:—l. Decorated Fire Brigade ivsol. 2. Decorated four-wheel private carriage of any kind. 3. Decorated two-wheel carriage of any kind. 4. Decorated express, cart, van, dray, or tradesman's vehicle. 5. Decorated four-in-hand bicycle team. 6. Decora-tad pair bicy^e team. 7. Decorated group of not less than three and not more than live bicycle riders. 8. Decorated bicj-clo with lady or gentleman rider. 9. Decorated bicycle, girls under 15. 10. Decorated bicycle, boys under 15. 11. Decorated group of six children. 12. Decorated pram >or go-cart. 13. Mail or go-cart drawn by two or more children. 14. Decorated wheelbarrow oi- hand-cart. 16. Decorated lady rider and horse. 17. Decorated pony with boy or girl rider. 18. Best decorated Maypole dancer. 19. Ditto Cachuca dancer. 20. Decorated hat and parasol. 21. Best floral device. 22. Any exhibit not otherwise mentioned. 23. Best decorated motor car. 24. Best basket of flowers, to be exhibited by child, seven or under. 25. Same for children 12 or over. Arrangements will be made for Maypole and Cachuca dances and numerous, novelties. In almost every class money prizes or trophies will be given. The meeting adjourned until Tuesday next, with a vote of thanks to Mr. Griffiths for presiding. Tho carnival has now reached that stage Avhen funds are required, and Mr. John Blair has been appointed collector. Be will call on those who have promised donations during the next few days. The general committee meat this evening at the Council Chambers, at 8 o'clock.
