SALVATION ARMY.
The Salvation Army's Variety Fan and Sale of Gifts opened last evening, and we have to congratulate those re^ sponsibl'3 on the excellent result of their labours. An enormous amount of time and trouble must have been devoted in order to so transform the barracks. Around the walls were arranged the differeit stalls, each being laden with goods of various kinds and nicely decorated The stage was for the nonce converted into a drawingroom, and an exolaination of surprise was made by all when the curtain was raised. The stalls were in charge of the following ladies :—Refreshments: Misses Siddafl, Williams, and Shaw. Work: Mrs. Banks and Mrs. Shaw. Young soldiers' stall: Mrs. Fawcett and Miss Siddall. Refreshments: Misses Shaw (2). Timbrel lassies' stall: Misses Siddall and.Dowsey. Soft drinks: Miss and Mr. Thomas. During the evening good business was done, and the programme presented was much enjoyed.
