LONDON, October 22

Great Trafalgar centenary celebrations were held throughout the Kingdom and Empire.

Bishop Weldon conducted a service at the foot of the Nelson Column in Trafalgar Square. One hundred wreaths were sent from all parts of the Empire, and 12,000 peopi* were present, including the Agents-General. Thousands thronged the Square all day and in the evening, defiling past the Column. Prince Edward of Wales and his brother, driving past, halted and saluted. Hundreds visited Nelson's tomb ia St. Paul's Cathedral. A spec'al ceremony was held aboard the Victory.

Lord Brassey presided at a great meeting in the Albert Hall.

Lord Ranfurly presided at a Navy

League banquet, at which Mr. W. PL. Reeves proposed "The Memory of LorcE Nelson." The British and Foreign Sailors' Society presented the French municipal, representatives with a piece of Victory oak in memory of France's brave sail— ors at Trafalgar, which produced an ex~-. cellenfc impression.

Togo received a deputation and anaddress from the Britsh Navy League-

The Trafalgar celebrations throughout the Commonwealth were mainlycharacterised by a plentiful display of; bunting.

A great grandson of Pasco, who* hoisted the famous signal on the Victory, unfurled the signal ai^the navaF concert at the Town Hall. During the^ evening Captain Hardy, a nephew o£" the captain of the Victory, was pre--sonted to Admiral Fanshawe at Brisbane.

A grandson of Pasco unfurled the*foimoiis signal at the United Service Institution at Melbourne.

The Caulfield Cup overshadowed thttTrafalgar celebrations, though various--demomstnsitions were held in the evening in commemoration.

The entente cordiale was in evidence-.-by a general intertwining of the Uniom Jack with the Tricolour.
