Received October 22, 4.35 p.m. LONDON, October 21. The match against Somerset, played at Taunton, drew an attendance of 9,000. The New Zealanders led off by invading the Somerset territory, and ie an early stage of the game Myhott (Taranaki) crossed the line, and Wallace (Wellington), added the* major points. For the remainder of the first half tha local team made a gallant resistance, countering the visitors' many attempts to cross the line. Seeling (Auckland) eventually succeeded in placing a second try to the colonials' credit, but. the shot at goal failed. When halftime was called the scores were New Zealand 8, Somerset nil. " The New Zealanders made the pace much faster in- the second spell, and ran over their opponents. Gillett (Canterbury) was the first to draw blood by dropping a penalty goal with a well-, judged kick. A little ]ater on, Seeling added his second try, Avhich Wallace converted. Then Wallace crossed the line, and Mynott secured another try, neither of which was converted, the game ending—New Zealand 22, Somerset 0. ■ • ■
