Champagne Stakes, beating Gipsy Grand and Musketry, also won 3rd Challenge Stakes of £1000, beating Euroclydon and five others, Bijou, St. Conon, Blue Water, and others. Sapphire is by The Drummer (1) out of Amethyst, by Ambrose (1), a son of the great Touchstone (14). Being got in Australia, and nob raced owing to an accident, his opportunities were lost to the turf. He is the sire of Lady Lillian, Phiaethonitis, Aeronaut, Trentbridge, and others. He is a horse of commanding size and substance, stands 16 2, and measures 9 inches below the knee. Phaethon, the only son of Trenton in the colony, will be at tihe service of breeders.
