DUNEDIN, • October 19. A strange affair is reported from Port Chalmers. Alfred Leenstone, a donkeyman on the steamer Kent, has informed the police that a (man oame up to him near the shipping office and asked if he was going to ship on the Manuka. He replied in the negative. The man said he wanted to speak to him privately, and took him into the railway tunnel. There the man stabbed him in the abdomen. The police are making inquiry, but the description of the assailant is vague.
