Stepniak is the sire of Menschikoff, Kremlin, Boris, Orloff, Madrigal, Petrovna, Ostiak, and a host of others the stock having won the C.J.C. Welcome Stakes, C.J.C. Derby, C.J.C. Chiampagn, C.J.C. Champion Plate, Middle Park Plate, Electric Plate, Juvenile Plate, Canterbury Cup, Dunedin Gup, Duredin Champagne, Auckland Derby, Great Northern Foal Stakes, Royal Stakes, Hawke's Bay Guineas, Wellington Stakes, Wellesley Stakes, and numerous handicaps. T?UROCLYDON is a 'hard chestnut, JCi standing 16£ hands high. His J sire, Gorton, was sired in England and foaled in Auckland. Gorton's sire, Thunderbolt, a great racehorse, was got by the great Stockwell. Gorton's dam, Lyra, was by the English Derby winner Thormanby. Lady Gertrude, dam of Eurocyldon, is the dam of many good ones, including Blizzard, Mistral, dam of Pampero, and Mist, dam of Vladimir. Euroclydon was one of New Zealand's greatest racehorses. As a three-year-old he was never beaten. After winning the New Zealand Cup and Derby, he put up an Australasian record in the Canterbury Cup, 2i miles, in 3.57|. As a four-year-old ho carried 9.5, and only got beaten by half-a-length. Euroclydon has already sired some good horses, including Happy Home, Brighton, Radium, Lee Side, Betsy, Eurus, and a good many other winners.
