Champagne Stakes, beating Gipsy Grand and Musketry, also won 3rd Challenge Stakes of £1000, beating Euroclydon and five others, Bijou, St. Conon, Blue Water, and others. Sapphire is by The Drummer (1) out of Amethyst, by Ambrose (1), a son of the great Touchstone (14). Being got in Australia, and not raced owing to an acoident, his opportunities were lost to the turf. He is t!he sire of Lady Lillian, Phaethonitis, Aeronaut, Trentbridge, and others. He is a horse of commanding size and substance, stands 16.2, and measures 9 inches below the knee. Phaethon, the only son of Trenton in the colony, will be at tihe service of breeders. Early application is necessary, as he is limited to 50 mares at £5 ss. Phaethon will be at Fordell and Turakina on Mondays, Marton (at Mclndoes' stable) on Tuesdays, returning Wednesday to Wanganui for the remainder of the week at Jefferson's stables.
