After the Telegraph Office closed the debate on the Maori Land Settlement Bill terminated, and the second reading was agreed to on the voices. The House rose at 2.15 a:m; ILLNESS OF MR KAIHAU. The Hon. James 'Carroll did not exercise, his right of reply, owing to the fact that at about 2 a.m. Mr Kaihau was taken, suddenly ill ,in the main lobby. Medical aid wa ssummoned, and in the mantime Mr Seddon, the members of the 'Ministry, the Leader of the Opposition, and others assisted to revive the member for the Western Maori district. . Unde«r medical attention, Mr Kaihau showed signs of reviving, and was removed to the Whips' room, where he was made comfortable for the night, and at 3 a.m. the medical verdict was that he was on a fair way to irecovery.
