Clarice and Corsair cut out the running from the fall of the flag, both racing together for three-quarters of a mile, when Promotion went for Clarice, but struck the last hurdle and pearly came to grass, and Clarice came in a pretty easy winner. At the fall of tho flig, Rivulet and Tongariro went to the front, and when passing the stand the first time they were in the following order : - Rivulet, Tongaiiro, Rimu; and Buapehu with the others in a oluster. After going a 1 mile, the horses all commenced to close up, and when a quarter of a mile from home, Jjaurel commenced to come through, and despite the efforts of Rumour and Germaine she won with a bit in hand from Rumour, with Germaine third. Tongariro and Rivulet brought up the rear. Time, 2min 44|3e0. Totalisator— Lawn, £9 16s; outside, £12. Maiden Race, of 50 sovs ; 1£ miles. Mr Keith's Dudu, Somnus— Fame, P. Keith 1 Mr Tanored'a Orator, Cannon ... 2 Mr Leopold's Cupid, Herd 3 Gattling, White Feather, Partner, Padlock, Vendor, Armidalla, and Traducer, also started, Sincerity being scratched. Passing the stand the first time Orator led, with the reßt all together. At the top turn, Partner ran against the fence, whioh spoilt his chance. At the back Dudu began to sneak up to Orator, when Cupid also showed up, and coming round the bottom turn into the straight, Dudu made her effort, and here started the best bit of riding of the day, both Keith and Cannon being hard at it all up the straight, Dudu winning by barely half a length from Orator, Cupid third, Armidalla fourth, the rest stringing in. Time, 2min 19seo. Totalisator — Lawn, £2 193 ; outside, £4 3s. Hack Race, of 20sovs ; once round the' courseMr Russell's Mermaid 1 Mr Keith's Escapade 2 Mr Cathro's Peter 3 Maribynong, Promotion, Rangiora, Sincerity, Moana, Quibble, The Dove, Rara Avis, and Ka<a also started. Mermaid cut out the running the whole way* and beat Escapade, who made a terrific rush in the straght, by half a length. Totalisator - Lawn, £16 10a ; outside, £14 23. Consolation Handicap, of 25 eovs ; 1 mile. Mr Kennedy's Rimu, 6st 121b, Kennedy 1 Mr Keith's Escapade, Keith 2 Mr Tancred's Administrator, Cannon 3 Parvenu, Germaine, Partner, Hagar, and Hippona also started. With a very bad start, Administrator got away about six lengths to the good, the others in Indian file, but with his lead he soon came baok, and at the quarter-mile post was with the crowd, where he stayed, Escapade and Rimu drawing out by themselves. From the half-mile post it was a ding-dong to the finish, Rimu winning by a neck from Escapade, with Administrator third, and Germaine leading the others.
