HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. (PKH UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, June 30. SCnoOL COMMITTEES BILL. After the usual adjournment, Mr Petrie, replying to Mr Shaw, defended central Education Boards as highly useful. He supported the Bill, but would move amendments ia Committee. Mr Seddon quite concurred in Mr Shaw's opinion about the Education Boards, and spoke at considerable length as to the state of educational matters ia Westland, and tho recent proceedings in connection with the Education Board election there. The Bill was then read 1 a second time. EVIDENCE AMENDMENT BILL. Mr Hutchison moved the second raiding of the Evidence Amendment Bill, I intimating that as most of its provisions were included in the new criminal code, he would be content with the principle being affirmed by the second readiug, and would not carry the Bill forward.. — Mr Connolly hoped the House would not hastily commit itself to an expression of opinion on so important a subject, and he moved the adjournment of the debate. — Agreed to. The House rose at 12.37 p.m.
