1 -p ' November 4. r Legal proceedings in connection with i the trial of Arabi and the other officers i are being pushed forward by the Coin--3 mission, but the preparation of a mass of evidence which has been taken has caused a delay in the commencement of the trial. English Counsel has been obtamed to conduct the prosecution. November 5. Preparations for the despatch of an expedition- to Soudan to subdue the Arabs who have taken up arms under a false prophet, are progressing rapidly. A considerable body of troops is being organised, and a large number of officers who fought under Arabi, and were sub-. sequently amnested, are enlisting.
