NEW ZEALAND RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

FIFTH PEIZE MEETING; (PEB UNITED PEESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, Nov. 6.' Firing was resumed at 8.30 this morning and continued until 7 o'clock tonight, when the Union Match was completed. The Civilians Match, and also the Wellington Match, for carbines, which had been postponed from Saturday, was finished at 6 o'clock. The weather during the forenoon was favourable for shooting, a light southerly wind blowing down the range, but shortlyafter noon the wind changed to the opposite quarter, and blew rather fresh. The wind blew right across the raage, and to this cause was attributed the low scoring this afternoon. Several of the riflemen who held commanding positions for aggregates ,fell back in .the Marlborough Matohi For instance, Captain Paynter, to everybody's surprise, only recorded 47, while the top score, Kennedy, finished with 76. A. Ballinger also fell away, only scoring eight at GOO yards. There still remains the Otago Match to be finished before the 20 to fire for the Bifle Championship can be settled, The last range of the Union Match, counting for the Carbine Belt, will be concluded to-morrow morning.
